Album Settings
The Album Settings page is a very important page where you define the key attributes about the album, the permissions you grant to access the photos inside the album and various other settings.
Album Manager >Album Controls > Album Settings
When you first create an album you are shown the Album Settings page. This allows you to name your album, enter in a description and define the preferences. You can always edit the Album Settings by going to the
Album Manager > Album Controls > Album Settings page.
Album Name And Description
The album name and description are displayed in conjunction with your album. It is not required that you have a description, but it is good practice to let your viewers know about what type of photos are inside the album by providing a description.
Album Categories
You can organize your albums under a category. An example would be to take all the different vacation photos you have, place each vacation in a different album then create a category called Vacations. When the visitor comes to your site they will see the Category pod on your homepage and can click to view all Vacation Albums by clicking on the Category: Vacations.
When the visitor clicks the category link on your Homepage > Categories pod they will see all albums you have setup under that category:
Album Preferences
The Album Preferences let you define the following features for the album:
Make album private
When you check this option your album will only be visible to members which you have approved to be added to your site.
Show album Share Links
Pixplug lets you generate links to access any of the different sized photos our system generates from your original photo. If you turn on the
Show album Share Links checkbox the Album Viewer for the selected album will have a link on it like this:
When the visitor clicks on the Share Photo link a pop-up appears allowing the visitor to select the size of the photo they want to generate a link for and then the pop-up will create a set of different types of links for that size:
By copying the link the visitor is able to share, display and otherwise display the photo by using the provided code.
Changing the size of the photo using the menu will create a new set of code for the image size that is selected from the menu:
Show statistics for number of photos in album
Turning this feature on will show the user the number of photos that are in an album:
Allow comments on photos
If you want to allow viewers to add comments about your photos then turn this feature on. If you don't want to allow comments then turn this feature off.
When someone adds a comment to your photo it shows up like this:
If you don't want the comment on your photo simply log-in and then click the Remove Comment link.
To be notified when someone makes a comment on one of your photos go to the Site Manager > Site Settings > Account Settings page and turn on the Comments on Photos checkbox:
When this feature is turned on you will be notified by email whenever someone comments on your photos.
Watermark all images in this album
Pro account members are provided a feature under their albums that let them watermark their images to protect them from unauthorized use. Checking this feature on will watermark all of the photos in the album. To learn more about this feature see the help topic:
Watermarking Options.
Show statistics for number of album views
When this feature is turned on visitors can see how many times an album has been viewed. Each time a visitor views your album you will see this number increase.
Allow the album to be downloaded
When this feature is checked on anyone you have allowed to join your site can download all the photos in an album. This feature is not available to the anonymous visitor to your site and is reserved for logged-in members.
The photos in the album are collected and then placed in a .ZIP file so the member will be able to click a single link to download the entire album at one time. This makes sharing large amounts of photos with your friends simple, quick and easy on everyone. The user will receive an email a few minutes after clicking on this menu. The email will contain a temporary link to the album photos. The link will expire after a short duration so we advise the user to begin the download process as soon as they receive the email containing the link.
If you do not want to allow your album to be downloaded, turn off this feature.
Show photo EXIF information
Digital cameras record information about each shot you take. This information is stored inside the photo and when Pixplug receives the photo from your upload, we extract this information and let you display it along with your photo if that is your desire. EXIF information varies from camera to camera, but it looks pretty much like this:
If you want to display the EXIF information you need to choose an Album Viewer that supports this feature. The Film Strip Viewer and the Right Side Viewer both support the Photo Info (EXIF) to be displayed. The Left Side Viewer does not support the Photo Info (EXIF). See the help topic 'Album Layout' below for more information about choosing an Album Viewer layout.
Album Layout
The album layout you choose for each album allows you to control where the small photo thumbnails and the photo information is displayed on the page.
Film Strip Viewer
This places the photo navigation along the top of the page and will display the EXIF data to the right of the photo (if the Show photo EXIF information checkbox is turned on).
Right Side Viewer
This places the photo navigation and photo information (EXIF data) along the right side of the page.
Left Side Viewer
This places the photo navigation along the left side of the page. No photo information (EXIF data) is available for the Left Side Viewer.
Make Default
We have found that most users like to stick with a consistent Album Layout throughout all their albums. To make this easy to achieve we have added a 'Make Default' link under each of the three layouts. Click on this link to set the layout as the default that is used for all new albums you create from that point on. It will not change any albums you have already created - it only changes any new albums you make in the future.
Album Contributors
All members of your site will be shown in this area. You can check the box under the members you want to have rights to contribute to your album. Anyone who has a check under them can log-in to your site and can contribute to the album building / management process. This is a great way to let others upload and share their photos with yours in an album. It is also a great way to collectively build an album if two or more people have attended the same event or have similar photos they want to share in the same album.
