Tag Photos
Tagging photos is an important technique to help you keep your photos organized and easy to find. A tag is simply a keyword that you 'tag' onto a photo so it is associated with the image. You can, for example, create a tag called Cliff and anytime the person Cliff is in a photo you can tag the photo with the word Cliff. You can then find and display an album of every picture that has Cliff in it. Pixplug has one of the most advanced tagging systems in the world yet it is very easy to use.

Album Manager > Photo Controls > Tag Photos

To tag your photos go to the Album Manager > Photo Controls > Tag Photos page:

Once you are on the Tag Photos page you will see all the controls for tagging photos. At first glance this may look confusing but it is really super easy to use once you get familiar with it:

Lets go through each part of the page so you know what does what. Then we'll learn about how to use each control in an example tutorial at the end of this page:

Create New Tag
You will use this control everytime you want to make a new tag name you want to use for your photos. You can have as many tags as you want so add them freely:

In the example above I'm creating a new tag called New Hampshire. When I go through my photo albums I can then tag all photos that were taken in New Hampshire.

After I click the Create button the tag will be listed under the Available Photo Tags control.

Available Photo Tags
All photo tags you have created for your site are listed under this control. When you upload and tag a photo using any of the Pixplug applications or web pages a new tag can be added to your photos. It will then be available to you under this control so you can apply it to other photos you may already have on your site:

In the example above the tag I created for New Hampshire is highlighted. I can now associate this with the selected photos by clicking the Add button in the middle of the page or I can click the Delete button below the control to erase the tag and all associates it has with any photos.

Applied Photo Tags
When you have selected a photo or a group of photos, whatever tag is associated with the selection will show up in this control:

In the example above a single photo of my daughter Coral is selected in the album. The photo was taken while on a vacation where we were skiing. I tagged the photo with the words Coral, Skiing and Vacations. Because I have tagged the photo like this it will show up when I view all photos of Coral, Skiing or Vacations.

If I want to select a tag and remove it all I have to do is click the tag in the control then press the Remove button. It will remove the tag from the photo but will not delete the tag itself.

Batch Tagging
You can select multiple photos in your album and then apply a tag across all the photos in a single operation. This batch processing for tagging saves a ton of time and makes tagging very productive and easy.

In the example below I used the Select All button to select all the photos shown on the page:

If I wanted to deselect any photo(s) I just click on the ones I want to deselect:

Now that the batch of photos is selected I can add a tag to my selection by picking the tag from the Available Photo Tags control and then click the Add button:

When the tag is applied to a batch you will not see any results appear in the Applied Photo Tags control. You will see a small dialog appear for a couple of seconds telling you your changes were applied:

To see the tag on a photo click the Deselect All button:

Then click on the single photo you want to view the tabs for:

The tags that have been applied to the photo will be shown in the Applied Photo Tags control:

Example Tutorial
This is a quick, step-by-step tutorial for creating a new photo tag and applying it to a single photo:

Step One: Enter a new tag in the Create New Tag control and click the Create button.

Step Two: Locate the tag you just created in the Available Photo Tags control. Click to select this tag.

Step Three: Select a photo in your album. Click the Add button in the middle of the page.

Step Four: The tag is now displayed in the Applied Photo Tags control. You can see this when the photo is selected.
